Horses and safety helmets
1. Day -
Dushanbe - Ghazza village, 2. Khujand - Ghazza village, 3. Samarkand - Ghazza village
You’ll be picked up from meeting point. Your first destination of Ghazza village in the Fan mountains. Ghazza is a remote village, located 1700m above sea level, at the foot of the Hamid and Obshor mountains, with a population of about 200 people. Stroll around and meet local people in the village, discovering how the Tajik people live in these mountain areas.
After lunch you’ll start your riding experience with a horse back trek to the village of Vory, located at 1900m above sea level, in a mountain area with a population of about 1000 people living in 120 houses, whose architecture is reminiscent of 18 & 19th century styles.
Returning to Ghazza you will enjoy dinner and overnight in a local guest house. This is a typical Tajik house built in traditional style in this remote village. You will experience living with a local family, sleeping in traditional rooms. Sleeping accommodation is in shared rooms, it is possible to take a shower, but the bathrooms are shared. In this village there is no wifi but there is electricity for charging telephones.
2. Day -
HORSE RIDING: Ghazza - Khushtarita valley
Enjoy breakfast with your Tajik hosts and then head out to spend a full day exploring the Khushtarita valley of the Fan mountains on horseback.
Your horses will ascend first to Murgobi lake (4 km, 1.5 hours riding time). Here you’ll have time to resting and walk by the lake and enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch continue the horseback trek to Soya lake 1,5km away and then to the Bedak camp (located at 2300m above sea level). This area is surrounded by the mountains of Obshor, Kyrgon, Kantif, Ankyf, Sarpyshak. Explore and meet the local families who live here during summer, sleeping in a traditional Tajik tent, looking after their animals and making milk products.
At the end of the day you’ll ride back to Ghazza village and enjoy dinner and overnight in the same guest house.
3. Day -
HORSE RIDING: village Gazza – Zurmich gorge – villages Guytan and Zimtud
After breakfast today the horse trek will ride via the Zurmich valley
to the village of Guytan, which is located at the foot of the mountains. Enjoy riding through these villages with a picnic lunch on the way.
Your horseback trek finishes this afternoon, and you will be driven to Dushanbe, Khujand or Samarkand.
